The Sims series is part of the larger Sim series, started by SimCity in 1989. Each successive expansion pack and game in the series augmented what the player could do with their Sims. Players can either place their Sims in pre-constructed homes or build them themselves. The player creates virtual people called "Sims", places them in houses, and helps direct their moods and satisfy their desires.

The games in the Sims series are largely sandbox games, in that they lack any defined goals (except for some later expansion packs and console versions which introduced this gameplay style). The franchise has sold nearly 200 million copies worldwide, and it is one of the best-selling video game series of all time. The Sims is a series of life simulation video games developed by Maxis and published by Electronic Arts.

Unfortunately, the game does have quite a lot of glitches like this, so it's just a matter of being aware of them and working around them as much as possible.Microsoft Windows, Mac OS, PlayStation 2, GameCube, Xbox, Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS, PlayStation Portable, Java ME, BlackBerry OS, Bada, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, Nintendo 3DS, macOS, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, iOS, Android, Windows Phone You can delete outdated backups when you know you don't need them anymore, but it's always a good idea to play it safe. Every so often (just when something special happens with the family) copy their household to the bin so that you have a backup of them. I've lost my progress in-game a few times before.Īlthough I realise this won't help your current situation, here's something I do sometimes if I've done a lot with one household and I'm worried about it saving. I'm hoping this is not the case but unfortunately this happens sometimes. If it refuses to open in-game, or if the files are not in your Saves folder, that means it's completely disappeared. This will allow the game to recognise it and try to open it. backup that one might be okay! To see it in-game, try deleting the part that says ".backup" so that the new folder name ends with just. bad it means the folder is corrupted, so I suggest you delete those. What's at the end of the folder name? P.S. See if any of the folders in your Saves folder have this name. Look for the name you gave your new town. Each neighbourhood should have 2 files one that ends in. In this folder are all of your saved neighbourhoods. You can go to where your saved games are on the computer hard drive: Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3 > Saves.

I don't know how much more you did after you put them into the new town (you said they had another child, but was the mother already pregnant before you put them into the town?) so you might have not lost too much progress.Īlso, I'm not sure why the new town isn't showing in your game, but you can check to see if your most recent save still exists.

There are a couple of things you can try.įirst, when you moved the family from one neighbourhood to the other, I'm guessing you put them into the Sim Households bin and copied them from there into the new town? If this is the case, unless you deleted them from the bin straight after, they should still be there.
